Video editing, Video manipulation, Video conversion, editing videos is a necessity for almost everyone these days from a simple school assignment, to social media posts on Youtube, to full-on company projects, video editing is necessary.

Now, I like video editing as much as the next guy, as it is a surprisingly calming hobby for me and while Premiere Pro, Vegas Pro, and Final Cut Pro are all powerhouses of video editing, the sad thing is they cost a pretty penny, and Id rather not have to pay those costs, after all not everyone wants to pay upwards of $400 for video editing software. So, what are the alternatives? Well with most so-called "free video editors" there is most times a catch, such as a watermark, a resolution limit, a time limit, or even timeline limits. Software that have these types of limitations are known as freemium software and freemium isn't what you're looking for. What you're looking for is "FREE" no strings attached no limitations, just free. So again, what are the other alternatives?

All of the listed video editors are incredibly good even better when compared to the fact that they're free, however, this isn't a listicle. I have to give what I think is the best and while they are all good and have amazing strong points, one video editor stood out from the rest and that video editor is "Shotcut".

I recommend Shotcut as a free video editor for beginners for two reasons. The first reason is its features. Shotcut has all the features any beginner would need in order to bring an idea to life, from color editing to1 even dabbling in the "audiotistic" arts. The second reason to choose Shotcut as your video editor is the layout. The layout of Shotcut though seemingly confusing at first glance is actually quite simple when compared to other editors shuch as VDC, Natron or Primiere Pro . The layout is perfect for beginners to navigate as I had no trouble looking for features or certain options when using the software for the first time myself.
